This is certainly not the update we thought that we would be writing when we had to cancel the Yeovil Half Marathon back in early 2020. After an extremely difficult year which saw us cancel every single race we organise we have been very fortunate to have gained the backing of our partners at RaceNation, our online entry providers and have become RaceNation Events.
Our fellow Director at RaceNation Events, Will Golder (also of RaceNation), says:
“The creation of RaceNation Events was an attempt to try and save events that may not have been able to survive into future years. As part of this deal, it was essential to us that all entries that had previously been purchased were honoured, which RN Events were obviously very happy to do on the simple understanding that this is why it was setup, but it did not receive any of the ticket money paid to previous events in doing so. By bringing a whole host of events together and using the power of central management and financial backing, we hope to continue to enable entrants, organisers, suppliers, charities and communities to all continue to benefit from the same great events, organised by the same great teams.”
Due to the devastating Coronavirus pandemic and current national lockdown in England which has not yet been given an end date, we are unable to plan adequately for the Yeovil Half Marathon to take place as normal in 2021.
We are also acutely aware that hosting a mass start running event for 1500-2000 participants, with up to 6000 spectators in Yeovil Town Centre would be irresponsible and in bad taste in the current circumstances and may well jeopardise the recovery process for our local community and healthcare system.
Therefore, there will be no Yeovil Half Marathon on 29th March 2021.
Your place will automatically be deferred to the 2022 Yeovil Half Marathon on Sunday 27th March 2022. If you cannot make the new date, please let us know and we will offer you a credit which you can use on any RaceNation Event (as listed on www.racenationevents.com) for up to 3 years.
However, we didn’t want to let this year go by without giving you the chance to earn a medal and so for 2021 there will be a Virtual Half Marathon option available so that you can get out there and train for something, and perhaps fundraise for our very worthy charities who need our help more than ever this year:
For entrants of the cancelled 2020 Yeovil Half Marathon, there will be a reduced entry fee for the 2021 Virtual Half of £4 purely to cover the cost of the medal, envelope, and postage (to be sent after completion). The cost for new entrants to the virtual event will be higher.
Entering the Virtual Half Marathon will not affect your deferred entry into the 2022 event.
If you had an entry into the 2020 Yeovil Half Marathon you should have received an email with a unique discount code to use when entering virtual event. Please contact us by email if you haven’t.
We know that during lockdown finding the motivation to train can sometimes be hard, so there are 2 different entry options, each with their own set of results and live leaderboards
Everyone who completes the distance and submits their time will be sent a unique finishers medal and certificate.
Full details on how and when to submit your results can be found on the entry page.

Leonardo’s association with Yeovil dates back more than a century, since the Westland Aircraft Works was established in 1915. The site was built in order to build aircraft to support the First World War effort. The first aircraft built at the Works was a Short 184 seaplane, which left on 1 January 1916, by horse and cart. The fourth ever aircraft built at Westland took part in the Battle of Jutland, piloted by Frederick Rutland from Weymouth, or ‘Rutland of Jutland’ as he became known.
Today, Leonardo Helicopters is based in Yeovil, with nearly 2,800 employees producing helicopters on site such as the Super Lynx 300, AW159 Wildcat and AW101 Merlin.find out more
